You might have noticed the sneaky rebrand that Sage One has had, quietly becoming Sage Business Cloud. This is a change in name rather than any kind of software overhaul, but as we've been SBC for almost 9 years now we're loving that Sage have decided to work with our branding for their online solutions

Our main business focus has always been consultation & training on Sage software, and whilst this isn’t changing, we are adding some further options to our repertoire.

From 6th April 2018 the minimum contributions for Auto Enrolment (workplace pensions) are increasing. The total minimum contribution is 5% of an employee’s ‘qualifying earnings’ ( between  £6032 & £46350 per year at 2018/19 rates). At least 2% has to come from the employer, and an employer can choose to contribute more, and give the employee the option to contribute less, so long as the overall 5% minimum is met.  If you process your payroll in house with Sage 50 payroll contact us to find out how to change the rates.

Even if you don’t process payroll in house you should be aware of these changes, as virtually all businesses should now have a workplace pension scheme and the increased contribution will be likely to mean an increase in your staff costs*. HMRC Portal Changes

If you have logged into HMRC’s website lately you might have noticed various changes which have been implemented. There are lots of reasons behind this, but where it may affect you if you’re not using the latest version of your Sage 50C accounts program is in the submission of your VAT return.
Up until these changes you could submit your VAT direct from Sage 50 on versions as old as 2008, but as HMRC make changes to their portal Sage are only updating the latest version of the software (currently V24.1)
If you’re on a subscription model or have a current Sagecover Extra contract then you’ll either be using or have available the latest version. (You can check which version of the software you’re currently using by going to ‘Help’ at the top right hand side of your software & then choosing ‘About’ from the drop down list.
